Tenby: Garage blames closure on competing supermarket

FIVE WAYS GARAGE is the latest in a string businesses in Tenby which have closed recently.

The petrol and station and convenience store, located on the Green, is no longer trading after making ‘considerable losses’.

Sally Owens, Director of Oil 4 Wales Ltd, which ran the garage, said that profits had plummeted since the opening of the Co-Op directly behind the forecourt.

Citing small margins with petrol sales, the drop in convenience sales was a death sentence for the business, which has operated in the town for decades.

The choice to close the business was made after it became apparent it ‘wasn’t sustainable’ to remain operational.

Last month, it was confirmed that New Look was closing on January 22.
