Dylan: Julia and Martin’s family dog

CROMIE AVENUE, Haverfordwest was the scene of a horrific dog attack, as Dylan the 15 year old terrier was killed by a Staffordshire Terrier cross.

On January 8 Julia Hughes, owner of Preseli Animal Homecare a UK pet and house sitting company for all animals, who also deal with farms and small holdings, was walking her terrier Dylan on a patch of green behind Cromie Avenue near Portfield School, when for the second time a black and white short haired dog described by Julia as having a: “staffie type head” and being: “crossed possibly with a collie”.

Julia described how the same dog had previously attacked Dylan at the same location but on this occasion had killed him instantly by: “ripping his throat out”. Julia said that the attacking dog would: “be covered in blood and possibly slightly injured as Dylan did try and fight back” and she is asking anybody who may have seen or who knows the owner to get in touch. Reaching out to try and stop the attacking dog, the got in touch with Pembrokeshire County Council who are looking for information regarding a vicious dog attack last week.

A spokesperson from the council said: “In order to prosecute we need to identify the owner of the dog. If you have any information on the owner or the whereabouts of the dog please contact the Dog Wardens. We don’t need your details and information can be given in confidence if necessary.” You can contact Sally on 07979 241668 or Ruth on 07833 046119 or alternatively email dogcontrol@ pembrokeshire.gov.uk
