Tributes paid to St Clears murder victim

THE FAMILY of a woman who was murdered in St Clears have paid tribute to her this morning (Mar 13).

In a statement, the family of 54-year-old Fiona Scourfield said: “We are distraught by our loss. Fiona Scourfield, aged 54 from Laugharne will be missed by us all.

“Fiona was a loving and caring person, who will be remembered for her kindness, especially her kindness to animals.

“As an active member of the German Shepherd rescue Fiona spent her time rescuing and rehoming dogs.  Fiona was a talented ceramicist.

“We would like to thank everyone for their support at this horrific time. It has meant so much to the whole family.

“We would now like time to grieve and would ask to be given privacy to do so.”

Yesterday (Mar 12) the 16-year-old boy accused of murdering her appeared at Swansea Crown Court.

He was remanded into custody at a secure youth centre and will next appear in court on May 18.

It is alleged that the teenager used an axe and samurai sword in the attack.
