Tributes paid to Moylegrove Coastguard crew member

A CREW MEMBER of Moylegrove Coastguard has sadly passed away it was announced yesterday (Feb 10).

Jonathan Wiltshire, who was highly respected and well liked within the community, has now been receiving dozens of tributes on Facebook.

A spokesperson for Moylegrove Coastguard said: “‘Worthers Jon’ was a committed coastguard who carried out his duties with enthusiasm, professionalism and pride, and attending training & call-outs at every opportunity.

“He gave his time generously, together with his wealth of knowledge on a wide range of subjects. With his genuine warmth and good humour, he quickly integrated himself into the team, and despite only being with us for a few short years will leave a large space that will be difficult to fill.

“The local community has lost a big personality and Jon will be sorely missed by his “skipper” and team-mates.

“Sleep well mate!”

Reacting to the news, Russell Fowler said: “So sorry to hear this condolences to his family and friends.
Sleep well on behalf of myself and all at Barry coastguard”

Robert James added: “Sad news, thoughts to all the family and friends from the ops room staff at Milford”

Susan Rumney summed him up simply, saying: “RIP such a brave man.”
