IN CELEBRATION of National Volunteers’ Week, volunteers will be able to bring a friend with them to the National Botanic Garden of Wales near Llanarthney for free.
Volunteers at the National Botanic Garden are being urged to show off the good work they do at the garden to family and friends, by bring them along to the garden during National Volunteers Week. By showing their volunteer badge, they will be able to take advantage of the plus one facility and have a friend or family member with them at the garden for the day.
The National Botanic Garden of Wales has more than 150 volunteers who have been incredibly important to the garden since it first opened at the beginning of the century.
The garden offers buggy driving, tour guiding, gardening, photographing and office work, which all require the volunteers who donate their time to helping the garden. Volunteers also help with children’s activities and reception, or anything that they choose to do.
Volunteers are given the opportunity to do what suits them at the garden. Their time spent there can be focused or varied and they can volunteer at a time that suits them. Some can only help seasonally, or in the afternoon. Some have weekly routines, while others can only help once a month, but each of the volunteers are crucial to the garden.
The National Botanic Garden of Wales is a registered charity, which is partly funded by the Welsh Government and Carmarthenshire Council. They are open from 10am until 6pm, but the last entry is at 5pm.
