West Wales unite in support of Corbyn

Jeremy-Corbyn-597736SWANSEA will be hosting a rally in support of Jeremy Corbyn, Leader of the Labour Party, tonight (Jul 4) in the vicinity of the main Guild Hall steps of Swansea’s City Hall.

The rally will begin at 6.30pm with members of the Labour Party attending the event. However, everyone is welcome to attend. Supporters of Corbyn are urged to attend the event in order to prove just how many people support him within the West Wales area.

Initial plans of hosting a march have been cancelled as the number of participants has grown enormously overnight and a licence would be necessary.

The rally, supported by Swansea Unison, aims to bring awareness and support to Jeremy Corbyn and his recent work within the party. This comes after recent pressures have arisen for him to resign as leader of the opposition, whilst many believe he should remain.

Tonight, hundreds of Welsh people will gather in Swansea to ensure that Jeremy Corbyn is aware that he has the support and confidence of those who attend the evening’s proceedings.

Since Jeremy Corbyn put his name forward as a potential leader, hundreds of thousands of people have joined the Labour Party. Jeremy’s honest and straight-talking politics have captured the public’s imagination.

As part of a national rally occurring across the United Kingdom tonight (Jul 4), Swansea will be hosting just one of many events supporting the leader of the Labour Party.

There will also be a ticketed event occurring after the rally, with a line-up of musicians, poets and comedians who show support for Jeremy Corbyn attending. The unique show, compered by PCS General Secretary Mark Serwotka, will host a full line-up of big names, including Rufus Hound, Josie Long, Francesca Martinez, Boothby Graffoe, Attila the Stockbroker, Angela Barnes, Grace Petrie and Clare Ferguson-Walker, with more names to be announced.

The event will be held within Swansea’s Brangwyn Hall, with tickets to the night’s proceedings available for purchase for £10 online at: ww.ticketsource.co.uk/event/EGHKJE.

This is a fantastic opportunity to show support for Jeremy Corbyn whilst having a great night.

The Herald spoke to an enthusiastic member of the rally, Henry Willatts, who said: “I’m attending the rally in support of Jeremy Corbyn because I want to show my support for the man that, I believe, is the one true hope for the people of the UK to have a socially and economically progressive government.

“The PLP and the right wing media, including the BBC, are carrying out an anti-democratic smear campaign on the man and his cabinet in order to destabilise their chances of victory in the next General Election.

“The other parties and the PLP are corrupt, in my opinion, and offer no hope for the people of this country. I believe it is for us, the people of this country, to stand up and be counted and fight for a better world. If we don’t, we have no grounds to complain as our freedoms are systematically removed from us and corporate interests control the policies that shape our world.”
