Whitland police support young cancer sufferer

POLICE in Whitland have thrown their backing behind a fundraising campaign in support of a six-year-old boy battling cancer.
Police vehicles will soon be sporting large purple and yellow ribbons as officers do their bit to support Morgan’s Fight.
The fund was set up by the parents of Morgan Hayes, who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma two years ago, and aims to raise £100,000 towards treatment.
The force was approached by Morgan’s school – Ysgol Llys Hywel – to help raise awareness of the six-year-old’s condition and the fundraising effort.
Carmarthenshire Superintendent Gary Mills said: “As soon as we heard about Morgan’s Fight we knew it was a cause we wanted to back. Local police officers work in the heart of the community, and we will do all we can do to support such a worthy cause.
“No parent can imagine seeing their child go through something like this, and for such a young boy to have fallen ill twice is heartbreaking.
“We hope the community will really take this fundraising campaign to their hearts, and look forward to seeing our vehicles proudly displaying the Morgan’s Fight ribbon.”
The Whitland Neighbourhood Policing Team will visit Ysgol Llys Hywel on Thursday (Jul 20), when the ribbons will be attached to their vehicles.
