A TRAGIC crash on the M4 on Tuesday (Nov 29) killed a Carmarthenshire woman and her unborn child.

Rebecca Evans, 27, was eight months pregnant with her unborn daughter when she was involved in a collision on the westbound carriage of the M4 near Margam.

A two-year-old boy is currently still in hospital as a result of the crash. His condition is not yet known.

The incident took place at approximately 8:20am, and involved an Audi, BMW and Peugeot. A 50-year-old man was arrested at the scene by the police on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has now been bailed pending further enquiries.

A South Wales Police spokesperson said: “Police are continuing to investigate a fatal road traffic collision which happened near the junction of Margam on the M4 on Tuesday morning.

“The collision involving a BMW, Peugeot and Audi occurred on the westbound carriageway at around 8.20am.

“A 27-year-old female who sadly died at the scene, has been named by police as Rebecca Evans. Eight-months pregnant Mrs Evans’s unborn daughter was also tragically killed in the collision. A two-year-old boy was also taken to hospital where he remains.
