Woman fights off robber in Burry Port

DYFED-POWYS POLICE is appealing for information following a report of an attempted robbery in Burry Port.

A woman was walking along Elkington Road at around 9.45pm on Tuesday (Sept 12) when a black or dark blue old style Renault Clio with four doors pulled in beside her. She believed the occupant was going to ask for directions.

As she stepped towards the car, a man exited the back passenger side and grabbed her rucksack. He was unable to take it as both straps were firmly around her shoulders.

The woman kicked out at the male and he pushed her back, then got into the car and drove away in the direction of Gwscwm Road.

The driver was described as a white male in his late teens to mid-20s, and was slim with a scrawny face. He had a piercing in his top lip.

The second male, who attempted to take the bag, was described as a white male, around 5’4” tall, who was also scrawny.

DC Huw Watson said: “Although nothing was taken, the female was understandably shaken up by the incident.

“We are appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident, or might have any information about the people in the car, to come forward and help with our investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 101.
