Former education centre in Llandudno could become hotel

Marle Hall in Llandudno Junction could be converted into a hotel

LLANDUDNO Junction could soon have a new hotel. Plans have been submitted to convert Marle Hall, a Grade II listed mansion. C Lambie of Portsmouth-based Middle Park Projects has applied to Conwy County Council’s planning department for permission to convert the former education centre.

The Georgian mansion was bought by Warwickshire Council in 1971 and was used as an outward-bound learning centre, providing residential trips and courses for schoolchildren until it shut in October 2021.

According to the application, neighbours have been consulted about the plans. The building hit the headlines last year when the Home Office considered using the mansion to home asylum seekers, but the plans were thrown out.

The planning application will be discussed at a future Conwy County Council planning committee meeting at the authority’s Bodlondeb HQ.
