Greggs proposed for Towyn, Conwy

Greggs has submitted a planning application to Conwy County Council’s planning department, seeking permission for a change of use of the Fourways Store on Towyn Road.

TOWYN could soon have its own Greggs.

The pastry, pie, and sausage-roll specialists have submitted a planning application to Conwy County Council’s planning department, seeking permission for a change of use of the Fourways Store on Towyn Road.

The plans include a ‘back of house’ food preparation area, staff toilets, storage, and a staff resting area.

Greggs has over 2,000 shops employing over 20,000 staff across the UK and describes itself as Britain’s leading bakery-food-on-the-go retailer.

According to the application, the new store would sell soups, savoury pasties, cakes, sandwiches, salads, pasta, hot wraps, confectionary, and hot and cold drinks.

A planning statement concludes, “It’s considered that the proposed use will support the immediate surrounding area and uses, residents, and workers within the area who want to have something convenient and quick to eat.”

The planning application will likely be discussed at a future planning committee meeting at Conwy’s Bodlondeb HQ.
