Tragic incident at Chirk aqueduct claims woman’s life

AT Chirk Aqueduct on the Wales-England border, a woman has tragically lost her life, as confirmed by local authorities. Emergency services responded swiftly to the distress call, which was received just before 8 am yesterday.

The aqueduct, located in Wrexham, became the center of attention as police swiftly cordoned off the area, including the surrounding paths. Authorities urged the public to steer clear of the scene and advised finding alternative routes.

Upon receiving the alert, the Welsh Ambulance Service promptly dispatched a rapid response vehicle and an emergency ambulance to the aqueduct. Emergency medical personnel were further supported by the dedicated Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service. In addition to the medical teams, fire crews were also deployed to the location.

Today, North Wales Police (NWP) issued an official statement regarding the incident, released shortly before 4 pm. According to the statement, officers had been alerted to a concern-for-safety incident at Chirk Aqueduct shortly before 8 am on Friday, June 16. Tragically, a woman was discovered deceased at the scene. Law enforcement officials have ruled out any suspicion of foul play, and the family of the deceased has been notified. The Coroner’s Office has also been informed of the tragic incident.
