New drive-through McDonald’s could be coming to Bridgend

A PLANNING application has been submitted to Bridgend Council to put up signs and advertising boards for a new drive through McDonald’s in the Bridgend area.

While a full application for the popular takeaway chain has yet to be submitted, the plans for signage at the site based on Trews Field Industrial Estate off Tondu Road, suggest that proposals for a new restaurant could follow in the coming months.

The documents, which have been given to Bridgend’s planning authority, are for a number of signs, including four free-standing signs, one banner unit, and 16 dot signs for things such as speed limits, pedestrian crossings and caution signs.

However, they also show provisional plans and layouts for a drive through McDonald’s restaurant with a 36 space car park, at the former SJB Car Sales site – which is also near to a Booker wholesalers just off the A4063 dual carriageway on Tondu Road.

The proposed area for the site is just over one mile from Bridgend town centre, and just over two miles from the nearest McDonald’s, which is based at Bridgend Retail Park in Waterton. It could potentially join three other McDonald’s sites currently located across the borough of Bridgend if approved by council bosses in the future.
