Five taken to hospital following assault at busy Cardiff street

SOUTH WALES POLICE have confirmed that five people were taken to hospital following an assault in one of Cardiff’s busiest streets yesterday (Sept 5).

Officers were called to City Road following an alleged assault at around 5.45pm on Sunday, which saw the busy road closed for hours while they dealt with the incident.

Emergency services were on the scene for a number of hours, with part of the street cordoned off for hours.

None of the injuries are thought to be serious.

Police are appealing for anybody who has video or dashcam footage to contact them.

A South Wales Police spokesperson said: “At around 2.44pm today (Sep 6) emergency services attended an address on City Road, Cardiff, after reports of an assault.

“Five people attended hospital with superficial injuries.

“Officers are appealing for anyone with mobile phone or dash-cam footage of the incident or the aftermath to please contact us quoting 2100312749.”

The Welsh Ambulance service confirmed that five people were transferred to hospital, with two going to The University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.
