Fire causes damage to Welsh Medium primary school in Caerphilly

A PART of Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Caerffili (Caerphilly Welsh Medium Primary School) was left devastated after a fire broke out in the building on Saturday morning.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service reported that the fire originated outside the school and spread to a classroom.

Initially, a spokesperson stated that the fire had started at the nearby Gwyndy site, which belongs to Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhymni, the secondary school adjacent to Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 09:19, and at the time, there were reports of a serious fire.

One of the classrooms housing younger children and the school’s roof suffered damage.

The fire was extinguished around 11:40, bringing relief to the school community.
