Plans for new drive-through coffee shop in Llandarcy resubmitted

Neath Port Talbot Council

PLANS for a new drive-through coffee shop near the village of Llandarcy have been resubmitted to Neath Port Talbot Council.

While it is not named in the application given to the local planning authority, documents suggest the site could be opened by popular coffee chain Starbucks.

If approved, the plans would see the construction of a single-storey coffee shop with drive-through facility, parking and servicing – along with 16 bay electric vehicle charging station together with access and landscaping on land adjacent to the B4290, in Llandarcy.

The site is located approximately 300m south west of junction 43 of the M4, and was formally part of the BP sports and social club, housing the clubs tennis courts.

The application, which was first submitted to the authority in 2023 was withdrawn at the request of Neath Port Talbot Council following receipt of highway comments from Welsh Government who requested further information in respect of the impact on nearby roads.

However, after a  traffic survey was carried out in October of 2023, along with additional information gathered on the potential impacts to junction 43 of M4, a new planning application has now been submitted to the council.

The latest iteration of the proposals come just months after the announcement of plans for an Aldi and Starbucks Coffee shop on land at Burrows Yard in Aberavon, with plans for both sites potentially going before the council’s planning authority in the coming months.
