A girl has sustained life-altering injuries after falling from a bridge spanning the M4.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:20 pm on a Saturday, between junction 25A for the A4042 at Cwmbran and junction 24 for the A449 at Coldra.
This past Saturday, Chief Inspector Rhys Caddick of Gwent Police said: “We received a report that a girl had fallen from a bridge over the M4, between junctions 24 and 25, in Newport at around 1.20pm on Saturday, September 9.
“Officers attended alongside personnel from the Welsh Ambulance Service and Air Ambulance Service. The girl was taken to hospital for treatment.”
The incident led to traffic congestion and necessitated the closure of the road in both directions. A spokesperson from Gwent Police verified that the young girl had sustained life-altering injuries and remained hospitalized.
They stated: “The girl was taken to hospital with life-changing injuries. She remains in hospital in a stable condition.”
