RHONDDA CYNON TAF Council is calling for people’s views on a proposed new care facility in Mountain Ash.

A consultation is ongoing for a proposed development in Mountain Ash that would provide new care accommodation for older people.

Rhondda Cynon Taf (RCT) Council said it was committed to modernising care accommodation for older people, including a multi-million pound investment to increase the extra care housing provision across RCT in partnership with Linc Cymru (Linc).

As part of this commitment, Linc is developing proposals to develop new care accommodation on vacant brownfield land off Darran Road.

The development could include a three-storey building that supports 25 extra care apartments and 15 residential dementia care beds.

It would include a lounge, dining rooms, a day room, a hair salon and sensory rooms.

There could also be eight “later living” bungalows within the wider site.

Pedestrian and vehicle accesses to the site would be improved, while 34 car park spaces would be provided. The council said that biodiversity improvements would be made throughout the development, including sustainable urban drainage features.

Linc is currently carrying ot a consultation about the proposed development, which ends on Tuesday, May 28.

A dedicated consultation web page provides detailed information on the proposed development – including drawings, draft planning application forms, a design and access statement, and an ecology report and can be found here – https://www.landatdarranroadconsultation.co.uk/.
