Woman dies after accident at rugby club

A 37-year-old woman has passed away following a medical emergency that occurred at a rugby club. Emergency services were summoned to Beddau RFC in Rhondda Cynon Taf at approximately 22:00 BST on Saturday when the woman “collapsed and died.”

South Wales Police have reported that the coroner has been notified, and investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing. A spokesperson for Beddau RFC described the event as a tragic accident.

The club, which remained closed on Sunday following the incident, has indicated that it will refrain from making additional statements at this time.

According to the Welsh Ambulance Service, they dispatched two ambulances to respond to the medical emergency.

“Crews were also supported by emergency medical retrieval and transfer service colleagues,” a spokesperson said.

The council stated that its investigations into the matter are still in progress, and a spokesperson conveyed their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
