The search for a woman, who was feared missing at sea after being observed at the water’s edge in Porthcawl, has been concluded.
The coastguard indicated that an ongoing police investigation is examining the circumstances. South Wales Police responded to reports of a woman sighted off the esplanade in Porthcawl, Bridgend county, shortly before 18:05 GMT on Tuesday.
Emergency services, including the coastguard, RNLI, and police, engaged in an overnight search, which was suspended around 02:00 on Wednesday.
Rescue efforts recommenced later that Wednesday morning at the police’s request, facing “extremely challenging” conditions.
However, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency confirmed on Wednesday evening that the search and rescue operation had ceased.
