TORFAEN: Police vehicle workshop (NIB)

PERMISSION for a workshop where police vehicles will be repaired and stored has been granted by Torfaen planners.

The application for the facility, at two empty units on the Llantarnam Industrial Estate in Cwmbran, was made by building firm Willmott Dixon. It does not specify which force or forces will be using the workshop.

It will employ 15 full-time staff, which, according to the application form, are new positions, and will operate from 7.30am to 5pm throughout the week, including weekends and bank holidays.

The units will be used for the storage of parts and materials as well as offices and a staff canteen. A meeting room, toilets, shipping containers, and above-ground fuel tanks will also be installed.

The site will be surrounded by a 2.4 metre high weld mesh fence, which will incorporate the entrance gates, and be covered by wall mounted CCTV cameras.
