Pembrokeshire pensioner in court charged with historical sexual offences against children

A PENSIONER from Llandissilio, Pembrokeshire is due to appear in court this afternoon charged with sixteen counts of historical sexual offences against children.

Robert Wheeler, 75, of Maes-Y-Dderwen will appear at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court after a CPS decision that the charging threshold had been reached.

The charges of gross indecency are against a boy over a sustained period, between the ages of 6 and 14 from 1981 to 1989, and against a girl aged 8 to 14 between 1980 and 1986.

The alleged offences took place in Oxford, Shaftesbury, Cenarth, Llandissilio and Sussex

It is expected that the Magistrates will decline jurisdiction and the matter will be referred to the Swansea Crown Court for a further hearing.

The complainants’ anonymity is protected by virtue of Section 1 of the Sexual Offences Amendment Act 1992.
