Hakin hit Fishguard for six

HAKIN United resumed their Division 1 campaign on Saturday (Dec 10) as they welcomed Fishguard Sports to the Observatory Ground.

It was Hakin’s first league game since October 22 with the Vikings being involved in a number of different cup competitions.

Shane Walsh opened the scoring after eight minutes and it remained 1-0 until injury time at the end of the first half.

The Vikings were awarded a penalty but Jack Britton could not convert from the spot. It mattered little though as Leon Luby scored and Hakin went in at the break with a 2-0 lead.

Any hopes Fishguard had of getting back into the game were all but ended midway through the second half. Walsh scored Hakin’s third and just three minutes later Ashley Bevan scored to make it 4-0.

Walsh scored again in the 67th minute to complete his hat trick and he scored a fourth three minutes from the end to make it 6-0.

The win for Hakin lifts them in to fourth place in the table but they have only played five league games so far this season.

On Saturday, December 17, Hakin United host Monkton Swifts, who sit just a point above them in the table, while Fishguard host local rivals Goodwick United.
