Man sentenced for having ‘untraceable’ amount of cannabis

A MILFORD HAVEN man has been brought before the courts for having such a miniscule amount of cannabis that police officers were unable to weigh it.

“This is the first time I’ve ever seen a charge of possessing an ‘untraceable’ amount of cannabis which the officers couldn’t even weigh,” solicitor Michael Kelleher told Haverfordwest magistrates this week.

His client, Terence Coe, 60, of Howarth Close, Milford Haven was found to be in possession of the cannabis when he was spoken to by officers on February 19.

Crown Prosecutor Sian Vaughan told magistrates that the estimated street value of the cannabis was approximately £5, however she was unable to give them a precise weight of the Class B drug.

“I can’t help wondering why a caution at the police station may have been a better way of dealing with this,” added Mr Kelleher.

Coe pleaded guilty to the charge of possessing an untraceable amount of cannabis.

After considering the evidence, he was granted a conditional discharge for 12 months.

He was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £26 surcharge.
