Neyland earn bonus-point win over Llanybydder

NEYLAND earned their sixth win of the League 3 West A season on Saturday (Jan 14) as they beat Llanybydder 22-45.

With uncontested scrums from the start it took the visitors time to adjust and Llany went ahead with a try from Llyr Tobias which he then converted.

Neyland hit back though and had a try from Luke Griffiths-Dawes and the conversion from Ollie Rothero levelled the score at 7-7.

The Pembrokeshire All-Blacks then went ahead with a try from Adam Peel which Rothero also converted.

Tobias then kicked a penalty to reduce the gap to four points but on the stroke of half time Neyland scored two more tries to seal their bonus point.

Matty Coles scored both and Rothero converted one to give the visitors a 10-26 lead at the break.

Llany were down but not out and at the start of the second half they scored a try through Dylan Davies, the conversion bringing the score to 17-26.

George Williams then went over for Neyland to increase their lead again but Llany hit back with an unconverted try from Davies.

That brought the score to 22-31 but further tries, including a second for Williams, converted by George Evans, took the final score to 22-45.

On Saturday, January 21, Llanybydder travel to Pembrokeshire to take on Pembroke Dock Quins.

Neyland are in action against old rivals Llangwm and, with other sides involved in cup action, a win in that game could see them move up to fourth place in the table.
