Neyland earn narrow win over Pennar

NEYLAND earned their second win in three games on Saturday (Jan 28) as they beat Pennar Robins 1-0.

The win sees Neyland go above Pennar in the Division 1 table and they now sit three points above the bottom two with a number of games in hand on their rivals.

Both sides had chances early on but it remained 0-0 midway through the first half.

Shortly before the break, after some good play, Aidan Rees was unlucky to see his shot cleared off the line and the game was still goalless when the half time whistle went.

On 56 minutes, referee Martin Jones spotted a hand ball in the box and pointed to the spot. Aidan Rees slotted the penalty to the keepers’ right hand side to give Neyland the lead.

Rees then looked to set up team mate Max Bowman-Davies but he fired over from inside the six-yard box.

With just over twenty minutes to go a corner from Rees found its way to Corey Richards but his head hit the angle of crossbar and post and the score remained 1-0.

Manager Gavin Rowland was delighted with the victory and was very pleased with the players attitude and performance after last weeks’ result.

On Saturday, February 4, Neyland travel to bottom of the table St Clears while Pennar Robins host Clarbeston Road.
