Wizards edge past Kilgetty

MERLINS Bridge earned a narrow 3-2 win over Kilgetty on Saturday (Jan 28) as they bounced back from defeat to Goodwick United in their previous game.

Sam Christopher put the Wizards in the 16th minute but Josh Bevan equalised on the stroke of half time.

In the second half, Tom Mezzetta was brought on to replace Christopher and he scored within minutes of coming on to the pitch to put the Wizards back ahead.

With ten minutes to go, Steven Thomas scored for Kilgetty to level the game at 2-2.

It looked as if the game would finish that way but deep into injury time the Wizards were awarded a penalty. Joe Leahy stepped up and scored to give Merlins Bridge the win.

The win for the Bridge keeps them a point behind leaders Goodwick while Kilgetty slip to eighth place in the table.

On Saturday, February 4, Kilgetty travel to Monkton Swifts while Merlins Bridge travel to St Ishmaels.
