Pembrokeshire’s flighty ferrets descend on Martletwy for this year’s annual races

They'll be racing at Martletwy

What could be cuter than a flight of ferrets racing around a showring?
Next month, Pembrokeshire ferret lovers will have a unique opportunity to watch them in action when The Snooty Fox in Martletwy stages a ferret show and charity dog race on May 21, organised by the Bluestone dog club.

The ferrets will be taking to the ring at midday, while £100 prizes will be awarded to the champion lurcher, the champion  terrier and the champion whippet classes.  There will also be prizes of £50 for the best family dog and the best KC registered dog.

Racing entries will be taken at 8am for a prompt 9am start for the lurcher, terrier and whippet races while the ferret show will open the dog show classes which will continue throughout the afternoon.

All money raised from the event will be donated to the Greenacres Animal Rescue charity.

“This is the second time that we’ve organised an event such as this”, explained Rebecca Woods, “and we’re hopeful that we’ll get as much support as possible, particularly because all the funds this year will be going to Greenacres Animal Rescue.

” The work that this charity is doing to support all kinds of animals is truly amazing.”

Last year’s Bluestone charity dog show succeeded in raising £1,200 for Glangwili Hospital’s Cancer Unit.
