Swansea’s local community fitness company beats the odds in winning national fitness awards

Siôn-lee’s SAVAGE DanZfit has been named a winner in two categories at a prestigious fitness industry awards ceremony.

The club beat off strong competition from independent, boutique and local authority gyms to be crowned with the Outstanding Achievement and Community Involvement awards at the National Fitness Awards.

The awards, organised by Script Events and leading industry publication Workout, with support from headline sponsor ServiceSport, are now in their 13th year and recognise excellence and achievement in all corners of the industry.

The winning company was chosen by an expert panel which included fitness entrepreneur Katie Bulmer-Cooke and award-winning personal trainer Matt Gleed, who decided the winners in each category from a shortlist of up to eight.

National Fitness Awards’ director Dominic Musgrave said: “This year’s winners should be very very proud – the high standard of entries made it a tough job to select a final shortlist never mind a winner and runner-up in each category.

“Our awards’ night was a great celebration of the fitness industry as a whole and it was great to see so many gyms represented at the event. It was a wonderful evening and it was lovely to share in the celebrations of the winners.”

Awards were handed out in more than 20 categories at a glittering ceremony at The Athena in Leicester, attended by more than 780 people and hosted by former Gladiator Kim Betts (Lightning).

This achievement underscores the club’s unwavering commitment to raising the bar in the fitness industry and its commitment to improving the health in communities of Swansea and beyond.

In addition to their recognition at the National Fitness Awards, Sion-lee’s SAVAGE DanZfit has also secured finalist positions in two categories at The 2023 Welsh Fitness Awards: Group Fitness Class of the Year and Trainee of the Year and won the Trainee of the year.

Siôn owner and Instructor of SAVAGE DanZfit says “2023 has been and amazing year for a small local community based company that is pushing the standards in fitness classes and community involvement. Kim and I have been completely overwhelmed by the appreciation for what we do, and we look forward to keep doing the same going forward into 2024 and beyond.”
