Tenby edge Mumbles to seal first win

TENBY United earned victory in their first game of the season on Saturday (Sept 3) as they beat Mumbles by just one point.

Luke Conbeer’s unconverted try put Tenby ahed but Mumbles levelled soon after through Luke Morgan.

Gwion Jones then edged Tenby ahead with a penalty as they went in at the break with a slender lead.

Mumbles began the second half well and went ahead with a try from Lloyd Davies which was converted by Richard Thomas.

Jack Broadhurst then scored for Tenby to put the home side back in front and Jones again added the extras.

Dan Colley then extended Tenby’s lead to 22-12 with another try, again converted by Gwion Jones.

Mumbles hit back though with a try but Joe Rimmell missed the conversion.

That brought them to within one score of the home side but Jones held his nerve to slot a penalty through the posts and to take their lead to 8 points.

Mumbles did not give up and with the last play of the game, Cian Richards went over for their fourth try to earn a bonus point and a second losing bonus point.

Matthew Hughes added the conversion to make the final score 25-24.
