HAVERFORDWEST moved themselves off the bottom of the Division 1 table as they beat Pembroke Dock by four wickets on Saturday (Jun 11).
Pembroke Dock batted first and were bowled out for 128 with Clive Tucker and James Marchant claiming three wickets each for Town
Jake Davies and Rhys Daley opened up for the Dock with a first wicket stand of 27 but they lost three wickets in quick succession.
Davies was bowled on 14 by Will Phillips and soon after he did the same to Archie Hillier-Wood, who departed without scoring.
Archie Thomas then got in on the act as he trapped Daley leg before wicket.
Scott Griffiths and Tom Grimwood looked to take the Dock on but Grimwood did not last long before he became Tucker’s first victim.
Griffiths and Nick Daley then added 25 runs for the fifth wicket but Tucker struck again as he had Griffiths leg before on a score of 28.
Daley reached a score of 14 but he was next to go as he was also trapped leg before by James Marchant.
That left the Dock on 99-6 and it soon became 103-7 as Anton John was caught by Marchant off the bowling of Tucker on a score of 17 (2 fours, 1 six).
Neil Gregory and Billy Wood added 21 runs for the eighth wicket but Gregory was run out on a score of 6.
Wood hit one six as he also reached a score of 17 but he was caught by Johnny White off the bowling of Marchant.
Marchant then claimed his third wicket as he trapped Euan McDonald leg before to bring the Dock’s innings to a close in the 36th over.
Town lost Dan Potter early in their reply as he was bowled by Euan McDonald but Mikey Jones and James Marchant shared 51 runs for the second wicket.
Neil Gregory brought that partnership top an end as he trapped Marchant leg before on a score of 15.
Jones and Field added another 27 runs for the third wicket as they continued to edge closer to their target.
Field reached a score of 22 but he was trapped leg before by Scott Griffiths and, soon after, Jones was also trapped leg before by Rhys Daley on a score of 44.
That reduced Town to 95-4 and when Griffiths bowled James Bielkin for a duck, the Dock had their tails up with the score now 100-5.
However, Jake Merry and Dai Davies held their nerves and shared 22 runs for the sixth wicket to bring Town within touching distance.
Merry finished unbeaten on 17 while Archie Thomas hit a four to win the game for Town.
On Saturday, June 18, Haverfordwest travel to Lawrenny while Pembroke Dock visit Neyland.
