Cymru eyes UEFA EURO 2024 automatic qualification

CYMRU complete their qualifying fixtures over the coming days and following last month’s 2-1 win over Croatia in Cardiff, Rob Page’s team have pulled themselves back into the driving seat for automatic qualification to UEFA EURO 2024 next summer.

Twenty teams qualify for Germany through the group stage and another three teams will join the hosts via the play-offs. The top two teams in each group qualify directly and they will be followed by the three winners of the play-offs.

Cymru are in Group D along with Armenia, Croatia, Latvia and Türkiye. Cymru’s remaining games are against Armenia in Yerevan (18 November) and Türkiye in Cardiff (21 November).

Here are the permutations for Saturday’s matches:

  • Türkiye have already qualified for UEFA EURO 2024
  • Cymru will qualify if they can beat Armenia in Yerevan and Croatia lose to Latvia.
  • Croatia will not be able to qualify through the group if they lose to Latvia and Cymru win.
  • Armenia will not be able to finish in the top two if they lose to Cymru. They will suffer the same fate if they draw and Croatia win.
  • Latvia are unable to qualify but can play a part in who reaches UEFA EURO 2024.

If Croatia were to win in Latvia on Saturday and beat Armenia at home on Tuesday, they would be unable to finish above Cymru if they win their matches against Armenia and Türkiye due to an inferior head-to-head record.
