Screen Shot 2016-04-13 at 15.14.48LOCAL ENERGY ACTION, a new initiative launched by Menter Cwm Gwendraeth Elli is working with local communities to help people save money on home heating bills and tackle fuel poverty.

The officer Paul Thomas is working with local communities to set up Fuel Clubs, the buying of heating oil in syndicates in order to pass on bulk buying discounts onto fuel club members.

In recent months the new Tawe Twrch Fuel club who members have saved up to 10% on heating oil deliveries have saved thousands of pounds for their members.

Fuel Clubs now exist all across Carmarthenshire and save thousands of pounds on heating oil bills for householders we want to keep creating more fuel clubs in areas where there are no current provision.

Taking fuel clubs onto another theme there are a growing number of people in rural areas are now using wood pellets to heat their homes. Local Energy Action has been approached by an experienced Fuel Club organiser Phil Turner to look at setting up a Carmarthenshire Wood Pellet Fuel Club in order to secure a better deal for wood pellets and encourage the use of renewable heat.

Following a successful initial meeting in March we are now taking the initiative out across Carmarthenshire visiting Cawdor Hall Newcastle Emlyn April 25 at 7pm, Llety Cynin St Clears Tuesday, April 26 at 7pm and Castle Hotel Llandovery Thursday, April 28 at 3pm to meet people and to introduce and discuss ideas to take forward. We would welcome everybody who has an interest in Biomass Heating. Baffled by the RHI (Renewable Heat Incentive) system? Come along to learn more.
