THERE was another protest tonight outside Cardiff Central Police Station on Wednesday night (Mar 17)
As well as demonstrating against the new Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill, protesters are also demanding justice for Mohamud Hassan, Mouayed Bashir, Siyanda Mngaza, Wen Jing Lin and Sarah Everard.
Meanwhile, the family of Mohamud Hassan, the young black man who died after leaving South Wales Police custody with injuries and blood stained clothes, have called for Chief Constable Jeremy Vaughan to resign.
It comes after a further four officers are being investigated over the death.
They say that despite all evidence pointing to Mohamud’s death being “entirely avoidable,”
The family states that Vaughan “continues to do nothing and no officers have been suspended to date.”
They point to Mr Vaughan’s initial statement that he thought no officer “had done anything wrong.”
The family further went on to say they are still being denied the chance to view the body cam footage and Mohamud’s parents have been refused a chance to see the final moment’s of their son’s life, something they say should be a basic human right.
They say Mohamud’s aunt, Zainab Hassan, broke down in the school she works in upon hearing yesterday’s news, which points to excessive force being used against her nephew. “I am heartbroken to find out the extent of cover-up, lies and deceit in this investigation.”
On Tuesday (Mar 16) it emerged that four more South Wales Police officers have been served Section 17 notices for potential misconduct by the IOPC. One is being investigated for gross misconduct and another for false entries on custody records, Herald.Wales understands.
This newspaper further understands that one charge also “relates to the use of force by police officer whilst escorting Mohamud into the police station.
