Stabbed three times by man who ‘came to pick up a parcel’

A Trethomas man, Kyle Moremon, 34, says that both he and his young family are too scared to stay in their own home after Kyle was stabbed on his doorstep three times by someone who came to collect a parcel.

Kyle and his fiancée, Jessica, say that a male visited their home on Navigation Street at about 9pm on Sunday (June 9).

Kyle said: “I answered the door thinking it was my partner or daughter so I was quite shocked.”

He was then stabbed three times, twice in the arm and then once in his stomach.

“I’ve got two wounds on my left arm and then another one on the right side of my stomach which is about an inch deep. It’s painful and still bleeding a little bit,”

Kyle and Jessica, who was out with her daughter at the time of the incident, say that although Kyle is in shock and the wounds are painful, both of them believe that it could’ve been a lot worse.

“Its something you never want to hear a loved one say: ‘Babe, I need you now I’ve been stabbed’. All our neighbours feel failed because of how much has to happen before something gets done.

“There are a lot of women in the street who are elderly and live alone.” said Jessica.

“It makes us all feel uneasy and this is a danger to the public. We’re worried about children in the area and people in general. Living here now feels like hell. It’s such a quiet area and now we have women feeling too scared to put their washing on the line.”

A Gwent Police spokesman said: “We received a report of a serious assault in Navigation Street, Trethomas, at around 9pm on Sunday June 6.
