THE FOO FIGHTERS, led by the iconic Dave Grohl, have thrilled fans by officially unveiling their plans for a UK tour in the summer of 2024, including a highly anticipated performance in Cardiff.
The band made the exciting announcement on Monday, June 26, shortly after surprising audiences at the renowned Glastonbury Festival, where they appeared incognito as “The Churn-ups.” During their secret set, they revealed their intention to embark on a UK tour in 2024, building up suspense among their dedicated following. Now, the Foo Fighters have released the much-awaited tour dates.
Tragically, this upcoming tour will mark the first time the band performs in the UK without their late drummer, Taylor Hawkins, who passed away in March 2022 at the age of 50. In September of the same year, the band paid tribute to their beloved bandmate by organising a monumental memorial concert, which drew a staggering 90,000 fans.
Taking to Twitter to share the news, the Foo Fighters delighted their followers by unveiling the official tour dates on Tuesday. The Principality Stadium in Cardiff will host a thrilling performance by the band on June 25, 2024, just days after Taylor Swift takes the stage. Additional tour stops include London, Manchester, Birmingham, and Glasgow, allowing fans across the nation to join in on the rock and roll extravaganza.
Although the Foo Fighters last graced Cardiff with their presence at the Motorpoint Arena in 2007, their popularity has skyrocketed since then. Consequently, rumours about an upcoming tour had been circulating for some time, with many fervently requesting a Cardiff date.
One enthusiastic fan commented on the band’s mischievous post about the tour announcement but no specific dates, saying, “Please please come to Cardiff, fantastic venue in the city centre.” Another Twitter user chimed in, “@principalitysta in Cardiff is the best stadium in the world. Just saying…”
Dan Minty, a prominent figure in Cardiff’s music scene and the owner of fan guide Minty’s Gig Guide, had been tirelessly campaigning for the Foo Fighters to include the Welsh capital on their tour. He had been publishing open letters to Dave Grohl and the band, passionately urging them to consider Cardiff as a tour stop. His most recent plea read, “Dear Foo Fighters, please announce a Welsh date for your upcoming 2024 tour (OR WE RIOT!). Time and time again. Our love, Cariad mawr. The Population of Wales.”
The Foo Fighters’ recent performance at Glastonbury was nothing short of extraordinary. Dave Grohl’s musical talents were in high demand throughout the festival, as he also joined Guns N’ Roses on guitar and played drums for The Pretenders, further solidifying his status as a versatile and revered musician.
Fans across the UK can now eagerly mark their calendars as the Foo Fighters’ “Everything Or Nothing At All” tour dates are as follows:
- June 13, 2024: Manchester (Emirates Old Trafford)
- June 17, 2024: Glasgow (Hampden Park)
- June 20 & 22, 2024: London (London Stadium)
- June 25, 2024: Cardiff (Principality Stadium)
- June 27, 2024: Birmingham (Villa Park)
With their long-awaited return to the UK and an unforgettable performance scheduled in Cardiff, the Foo Fighters’ 2024 tour promises to be an unforgettable experience for fans and a fitting tribute to their late drummer, Taylor Hawkins.
