MP Crabb urges Rees-Mogg to focus on Celtic Sea Opportunities

WITH the Government announcing a lifting of the ban on fracking, MPs today questioned Jacob Rees-Mogg, the new Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, about the Government’s energy strategy.

Stephen Crabb, MP for Preseli Pembrokeshire, emphasised the importance of energy security and called on the Minister to focus on the emerging opportunity for large-scale Floating Offshore Wind Power in the Celtic Sea. [You can watch his contribution in the Chamber here.]

Following his question in the Commons, Mr Crabb commented further: “Our energy system is changing and the need for new domestic energy supplies has never been greater. Floating Offshore Wind presents an exciting opportunity, with the potential to bring benefits through the creation of high skilled jobs and apprenticeships nationally and locally in Pembrokeshire.”

“I am encouraged by the response I received from the Secretary of State, and it is vital that the Government supports the renewal of Pembrokeshire’s energy industry as we look to new low carbon opportunities. I look forward to meeting with him to discuss this further.”
