screen-shot-2016-11-09-at-10-41-36WHITLAND were again left to wander what could have been as they lost out to Penclawdd in a low scoring match.

Having suffered a number of defeats already this season, all by narrow margains, Whitland went in to Saturday’s (Oct 15) game hoping for a first win of the season.

Nico Setaro scored for Whitland with a well taken penalty but it was Penclawdd who held the lead at half time.

Jonathan Hughes scored the visitor’s try and Philip Tucker added the extra two points to put his side 7-3 ahead at the interval.

In the second half, Hughes extended Penclawdd’s lead with two more penalties.

Whitland did not give up and a late penalty gave them the chance to get back to within a score of their opponents and they did so as Setaro landed his second penalty of the game.

That was as good as it got for the Borderers, who continue to pick up losing bonus points, but they will be keen to pick up their first win of the season when they travel to Aberystwyth on Saturday (Oct 22).
