BORTH UNITED kept their unbeaten start to the season going as they eased to a 3-0 victory over Presteigne St Andrews on Saturday (Oct 29).

On an overcast afternoon at Llanandras Park in Presteigne, both sides started the game well and could each have opened the scoring.

Liam Lewis was only inches away with a header past the post for the visitors.

Borth took the lead on 15 minutes, with Ryan Davies’ perfect pass to the feet of Ben Jones to slide the ball past the onrushing keeper.

To their credit, Presteigne pressed forward and Adam Crowe should have equalized but headed over the bar with only keeper Sean Gates to beat.

The home team were to rue that miss as Borth capitalised with Sam Middleton’s long ball from defence, which found Ryan Davies wide on the left wing, who beat a defender and unleashed a low shot past the keeper for 2-0 – a lead they held up to the half time interval.

Without question, Presteigne held the upper hand in the opening exchanges of the second half and the Borth defence had to be alert as their forwards made some good openings, with lively centre forward Kieron Lusher in fine form.

As the match reached its last 10 minutes, Borth made sure of the three points with Liam Lewis scoring with a cool finish past the Presteigne keeper for a hard earned 3-0 win.
