Carew back in title race after bowling out Saundersfoot

CAREW brought themselves back in the Division 1 title race on Saturday (Jul 2) as they beat Saundersfoot by 24 runs.

Carew had lost to Pembroke Dock the previous week but their win on Saturday has seen them move to within just three points of leaders Neyland.

Saundersfoot won the toss and chose to field and they were able to bowl Carew out for 143.

Tim Hicks top scored with 56 for the visitors but Nav Kawale took 3-26 for Saundersfoot.

He had good support from Sam Franklin who finish with good figures of 2-16 and Neil Powling who finished with 2-26.

In reply, Danny Caine batted well for his score of 63 but it wasn’t enough for victory.

Shaun Whitfield claimed 5-28 to help bowl Saundersfoot out for 119. 

Carew now sit fourth in the table while Saundersfoot pick up seven points which was enough to move themselves out of the bottom two.

On Saturday, July 9, Carew host second placed Cresselly while Saundersfoot visit leaders Neyland who they beat earlier in the season.
