Tim Hicks finished unbeaten on 38 for Carew against Kilgetty

CAREW are the only side to have won their opening two games in Division 1 after they beat Lawrenny by 61 runs on Saturday (May 4).

Lawrenny elected to field after winning the toss and they watched on as Carew got off to a good start.

Openers Tim Hicks and Tom Davies shared a good stand before the latter was caught by Joe Kidney off the bowling of Harry Thomas on a score of 53.

Ian Sefton followed up his century from the previous week with another good score of 47 before he was run out.

Rhys Davies scored 28 before he was also run out while Hicks continued to bat well as he closed in on a century.

However, he was then caught by Jamie Lewis off the bowling of Brad McDermott-Jenkins for a score of 87.

With the last ball of the innings, Ryan Morton bowled Nick Davies and it meant that Carew had finished on 240-5 from their 45 overs.

Lawrenny looked to get off to a good start in their reply but lost batsmen cheaply as Tom Davies and Ceri Brace both claimed four-wicket hauls.

James Phillips was first to fall as he was caught by Nick Davies off the bowling of namesake Tom on a score of 16.

Steven Campbell made 17 before he was trapped leg before by Brace who then caught Steve Lewis on a score of 10 off the bowling of James Hinchcliffe.

He then picked up his second wicket as he bowled James Skeels on a score of 15.

Harry Thomas had batted well as he made 55 but he also found himself trapped leg before by Brace.

Brace then bowled Joe Kidney and Ryan Morton for single figure scores as the game began to slip away from Lawrenny.

Brad McDermott-Jenkins offered some resistance with a score of 33 but he was then bowled by Tom Davies.

The same bowler then had James Buckle caught by Hinchcliffe and he wrapped up the innings when he bowled Rob Williams.

It gave Carew victory by 61 runs and another maximum thirty points.

On Saturday (May 11), Carew travel to Burton while Lawrenny will look to get back to winning ways as they host Saundersfoot.
