Carew earn narrow win over Lawrenny

CAREW earned their second win of the season on Saturday (May 14) as they beat Lawrenny by just six runs.

The win moves Carew up to third place in Division 1 and they are now nine points off joint leaders Neyland and Lawrenny.

Lawrenny won the toss and chose to field and they were able to bowl Carew out for 187.

Shaun Whitfield top scored for Carew with 67 while Luke Hicks scored 22, Iori Hicks added 19 and Nic Scourfield scored 18.

Finlay Lewis finished with figures of 2-36 for Lawrenny while Kyle Marsh also took two wickets, only conceding four runs.

Harry Thomas was also amongs the wickets for Lawrenny with figures of 2-35.

In reply, Kyle Marsh top scored with 77 and there were also scores of 22 from Ryan Morton and 20 from Troy Purslowe.

That wasn’t enough to secure the win though as they were bowled out for 181, just seven runs short of their target.

Sion Jenkins finished with figures of 3-43 while Sam Harts also bowled well for figures of 3-18.

The win for Carew earned them 19 points and on Saturday, May 21, they will look for another win when they take on Haverfordwest.

Lawrenny will look to get back to winning ways when they host Neyland.
