Carew ease to win over Lawrenny

CAREW picked up their sixth win of the season on Saturday (Jul 16) as they beat Lawrenny by six wickets.

Carew won the toss and chose to field and they were able to bowl Lawrenny out for 131.

Rob Williams top scored with 38 for the home side and Tom Cole added 35 but Carew bowled well to keep the score down.

Iori Hicks took 4-21 for Carew while Sam Harts (2-20) and James Hinchliffe (2-8) both took two wickets each.

Shaun Whitfield and Ceri Brace also claimed a wicket each as Carew were set 132 to win the game.

In reply, Rhys Davies scored 58 and Ian Sefton added 30 as they marched towards their target.

Rob Williams took 2-37 while Jamie Lewis (1-31) and Finlay Lewis (1-14) also took a wicket each as they did their best to stop Carew.

It wasn’t enough though as Nick Davies finished unbeaten on 13 to see his side over the line.

The win keeps Carew third in the table, 14 points behind leaders Cresselly.

On Saturday, July 23, Carew host Haverfordwest while Lawrenny visit Neyland.
