Cresselly seal narrow win over Carew

CRESSELLY sealed a narrow victory over Carew on Saturday (May 7) as they bowled them out to seal a 5-run win.

Carew had won the toss and chose to field and Cresselly made a good total of 222-8 from their 45 overs.

Ryan Lewis scored 51 for the home side while Alex Bayley batted well as he finished unbeaten on 76.

Shaun Whitfield bowled well for Carew as he finished with figures of 5-61.

Whitfield also did well with the bat as he scored 52 before being sent back to the pavillion. Tim Hicks was Carew’s top scorer with 76.

It wasn’t enough though as three wickets for Tom Murphy (3-33), three for Charlie Arthur (3-36) and one for Tom Arthur (1-15) ensured they bowled Carew out for 217.

The win for Cresselly sees them move just two points behind leaders Neyland while Carew drop to fifth.

On Saturday, May 14, Cresselly travel to Haverfordwest while Carew will look to bounce back against neighbours Lawrenny.
