Division 2: Burton stay top after beating Llanrhian

BURTON remain top of Division 2 after they beat Llanrhian by six wickets on Saturday (Aug 13).

Promotion is not yet guarnteed for Burton as third and fourth placed Whitland and Llechryd could still catch should the leaders slip up on the final day.

On Saturday, Llanrhian won the toss and chose to bat and they scored 174-6 in their innings.

Adam Phillips top scored with 34 for the visitors while Jack Jones added a score of 33. Iwan James scored 30 before Geraint Morris finished unbeaten on 24.

Morgan Scale took two wickets for Burton to finish with 2-37 while Jon Scale (1-21) and Dan Ridge (1-22) also claimed wickets.

In reply, Toby Hayman made an early score of 21 and Martin Jones reached a half century before falling on 54.

Morgan Scae then finished unbeatn on 15 but Jon Venables was the star of the innings as he finished unbeaten on 66.

Jack Jones took two wickets for Llanrhian but it wasn’t enough.

On the final day of the season (Saturday, August 20), Burton travel to Johnston while Llanrhian play Carew seconds.
