FAW Trophy: South section round up

THERE were some exciting matches in the second round of the FAW Trophy on Saturday (Oct 1).

Seven Sisters went through to the third round after they beat St Josephs 7-6 on penalties. The game had finished 1-1 after extra time.

Trostre are also through after they beat Waunarlwydd Galaxy 9-0. Rhys Griffiths, Liam Jones and Jamie Jenkins all scored a hat trick for the Carmarthenshire Premier Division side.

West Wales Premier League side Penlan are also in the hat for the next round after beating Morriston Town 4-3 on penalties.

The game had earlier finished 0-0 with both sides being reduced to ten men as early as the 17th minute.

In another all-West Wales Premier League clash, it was South Gower who got the better of Pontarddulais Town.

Gower came from behind to lead 3-1 and although the Bont pulled a goal back the visitors held on to seal victory.

West Wales Premier League side CK Swiss Valley are also through after they beat Giants Grave 2-1.

CKSV took the lead before Grave equalised but an own goal seven minutes from time sent the visitors into the next round.

Merthyr Saints are also through after beating Llanishen Wanderers 4-3 on penalties. The game had finished 1-1 but Merthyr held their nerve to go through.

Cardiff Corinthians beat Cwmbach Royal Stars 3-2 and Ely Rangers also won by the same scoreline against Dinas Powys.

Caldicot Town are into the third round after they beat Nantyglo 4-2. Abertillery Bluebirds also earned a 4-2 win against Brecon Corries.

Pontyclun went through after an exciting game with Aber Valley. The game finished 3-3 after extra time before Pontyclun sealed their passage with a 4-2 shoot-out win.
