Vikings hit Ynystawe for six in FAW Trophy

PEMBROKESHIRE side Hakin United progressed to the third round of the FAW Trophy on Saturday (Oct 1) as they thumped Ynystawe Athletic 6-1.

After an even start, Shane Walsh put Hakin ahead on 26 minutes and it was 2-0 eight minutes later as Mark Jones found the net.

Ten minutes into the second half, the game was all but over as a contest as Nicky Woodrow scored Hakin’s third.

He then scored again six minutes later and he went on to complete his hat trick with twenty minutes to go to make it 5-0.

With thirteen minutes to go the hosts were awarded a penalty and Cai Owens stepped up to score it.

Just two minutes later though Mark Jones scored his second to restore Hakin’s five goal cushion.

Hakin saw the game out and will now look forward to their game in the next stage of the competition.

There is more cup action for Hakin this weekend as they host Taffs Well in the second round of the JD Welsh Cup.
