COREY BALDWIN, a Year 12 pupil at Llandovery College has been selected for the Wales U18s Rugby Team that played France on Friday at Cross Keys.

He was called up to the national squad and joined their training camp over the February Half Term and at the end of that week played in a match against Leicester.

Corey plays for the Llandovery College’s 1st XV team and also for the Scarlets’ U18s where his performances earned him his current selection.

Last Monday proved a ‘red letter day’ for Corey as not only did he learn of his selection for the international game against France this Friday (Mar 4) but he also passed his driving test!

Corey is no stranger to international rugby having previously been capped for Wales’ U11s and U16s Teams. He said that it was a privilege to have been selected especially as he was only seventeen years of age and that he was very much looking forward to the experience.

Iestyn Thomas, Head of Rugby at Llandovery College said:

“Corey Baldwin has outstanding ability and, having come to us from Ysgol Bro Dinefwr, is accelerating again up the ranks into the Wales U18s and, I am sure, will have the option to pursue either an academic or professional rugby pathway – or both”.
