Llangwm up to fifth after beating Lawrenny

LLANGWM moved themselves up to fifth place in the table on Saturday (Jun 11) as they beat Lawrenny by seven wickets.

Llangwm won the toss and chose to field and they were able to bowl Lawrenny out for just 93.

Harry Thomas and Finley Lewis got Lawrenny going with an opening stand of 20 runs but, after Lewis was trapped leg before by Noah Davies, wickets began to fall regularly.

Joe Phillips trapped James Phillips leg before for a golden duck before Noah Davies bowled Joe Kidney and Steve Lewis to leave the visitors on 33-4.

Matthew Kiff then bowled Kyle Marsh and had Hugh Griffiths caught by Ewan Griffiths to make the score 56-6.

That became 58-8 as Ryan Morton and Tom Cole were both bowled by Steven Mills.

Mills also did the same to Rob Williams as Lawrenny were in danger of being bowled out with the score on 64-9.

Harry Thomas had reached a score of 42 and he then reached his half century as he and Jamie Lewis shared 29 runs for the last wicket.

Lewis was the only other batsman to reach double figures as he hit two fours in his score of 11 but he was bowled by Oliver Davies.

That brought the innings to a close with Harry Thomas unbeaten on 60 after hitting eight fours and three sixes.

Joe Kiff and Noah Davies shared 26 runs as Llangwm began their reply but Finley Lewis made the breakthrough as he had Kiff caught by Harry Thomas on a score of 10.

Ryan Morton then had Davies caught by James Phillips on a score of 16 (three fours) as Llangwm slipped to 30-2.

However, Steven Mills and Matthew Kiff shared 51 runs for the third wicket to all but secure the win for the hosts.

Kiff hit four fours and a six as he scored 29 before he was caught by Tom Cole off the bowling of Kyle Marsh.

Mills had already hit a four and a six in his score of 13 before Luke Brock came in and hit 17 from nine balls with a four and two sixes to seal the win for Llangwm.

On Saturday, June 18, Lawrenny host Haverfordwest while Llangwm visit Carew.
