WRU Bowl

Milford Haven 14

Nantgaredig 12

screen-shot-2017-01-03-at-12-33-33NANTGAREDIG put up a spirited effort as they were knocked out of the fourth round of the WRU Bowl by Milford Haven last Saturday (Dec 10).

Milford went ahead when Craig Barnett sent a penalty through the posts, only for Nantgaredig’s Meirion Davies to level the scores at 3-3.

The heavy rain then came down as conditions took a turn for the worse, but both sides battled away as they looked to hold an advantage at the break.

It wasn’t to be and both sides went in at the break with the score still tied at 3-3.

In the second half, Barnett added another two penalties, as did his opposite number Davies which levelled the scores at 9-9.

Going into the closing stages, it was anybody’s game, but it was Milford’s Dan McClelland who came up with the winning a score with the game’s first try which went unconverted.

Davies responded with a fourth try for the visitors to set up a nervy finale but the home side held on for an excellent victory.
